Warning:

Making a lampshade form is not a simple process.  It’s time consuming and it’s not inexpensive.  The cost would probably be comparable to that of buying a manufactured form.  It is for that reason that I will never make my own form or pattern so long as a manufactured form/pattern is available.

If you can find a manufactured form, but still need to create your own pattern, I would strongly recommend that you stay away from Odyssey’s fiberglass forms.  The Odyssey system depends on the use of a product called “tacky wax” to hold the glass to the form.  Your pattern will probably take the form of pieces of paper that are glued or taped to the form.  This will defeat the use of “tacky wax”.

What you would hope to find would be a form that you can stick pins or tacks into.  Worden’s Styrofoam forms would be perfect for this
